Guides hail from nearby communities and outstations with many being part of the traditional custodian clans across the region.

For almost 2 hours aboard the Guluyambi Cruise travel parts of the notorious East Alligator River learning much about life in this wild part of Australia as well as about your guide on the day.  The experience includes demonstrations in spear throwing and other useful plants and materials as well as general discussion about the area and all that live in it.

A feature of the cruise is a short walk on the Arnhem Land side of the East Alligator River.  This is the perfect spot for spear throwing demonstration and also an opportunity to view some local aboriginal rock paintings.

Guides on the cruise also produce paintings, craft and tools such as spears, fire sticks.  Working under the shade of paperbark trees next to the river they are here for most of the year producing and selling them direct to guests.  Some of these guides also moonlight as movie stars !
